Painting is my Challenge, the uncharted territory. I love everything about it, the texture of the oil colors, the smell, the vibrancy of the colors or the subtlety – the formats of the canvas – the thoughts in preparation and the fact that every time I failed – it also shows me a way that I had not thought of before.
I just need to watch nature work, the preciseness of the camera’s eye trains my eye – so I can bring what I have learned into my architectural structures.
Through the camera I observe people, surroundings, see in one frame what works, what does not, see the perfect proportions, see the flow of light and shadows, get trained to color schemes that work for the place and the people.
Photography allows me to depict Nature and People and to explore the balance that can exist between us and our immediate surroundings.
In architecture form follows function -
I use photography to sharpen my eyes and my observation skills to get to the base of organic design.
Since I strive to build environments for people to feel content in – I must understand people’s desires and ambitions, dreams and realities.
Poetry allows me to go deeper into the human condition.
The Multi Sense Approach
In all my work I dive deeply into local history and the culture surrounding the project. I seek to ignite a creative union between the project and its environment, both social and ecological.
I spend time with the people and in surrounding nature, collecting impressions of experiences around my research in various forms; photography, painting and poetry.
Then I blend all of these impressions into the foundations of my design. Every project holds behind it a long line of research and understanding built from the impressions of local life.
Often I use subject matters related to a project – it’s my meditation, I build another connection to my project at hand and often it shows me the fluency, moods, pace and overall stimulation.
My architecture work always tells a story – no matter if it is a home, a school, a bridge or an airport, hospital, a village or an entire city built from the ground up – the core, the heart and soul of the project is rooted in a story.
Paintings also help in my research as notes, observing people, their surrounding traditions and values.

As in photography, in painting I must catch the story in one frame, that’s great training for my architectural work.
